When Mercedes-Benz W211, W209, W164, W169, and W245 chassis modules are removed from the vehicle for bench programming, the EIS/EZS (Ignition) and ECU (Engine) units require a Gateway (ZGW) signal to initiate communication. Without this signal, the modules remain in "sleep mode," preventing diagnostic and programming tools from establishing a connection.

The M4KEY Universal Gateway Simulator is engineered to bypass this obstacle by emulating the original vehicle gateway. It "wakes up" the modules on your workbench, allowing you to perform advanced operations via the OBD port as if the modules were still installed in the car.
